Although the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to sustainability is the protection of the environment, but the concept of sustainability is actually a holistic approach that includes ecological, economic and social dimensions. Our activities in this field:
- Renewable energy through Solar Power Plants.
2192 trees per year thanks to the CO2 emissions we have prevented.
Sustainable production using recycled yarns.
Recovery of water by treating all of the waste water.
Efficient use of resources with rainwater collection system.
Recovery of caustics using new technology.

The Textile Industry ranks second after the Petroleum Industry in terms of Pollution.
For us, having a holistic perspective has always been the most important element that forms the basis of our actions. Sustainability has 3 basic components. These components are; environmental protection, economic growth and social development.
In order to ensure sustainability, these components need to be managed in a balanced way. When all these components work in harmony, the potential to meet human demands and needs now and in the future increases, and in the meantime sustainable development is achieved. According to the principles of sustainable development, society should not allow welfare to decline over time.
According to the United Nations report, the World population is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050. In addition, more than 13 million tons of textile products are disposed of in the USA each year. This accounts for almost 20% of global water pollution caused by textile waste. Chemicals released into nature pollute water resources and cause serious damage to the ecosystem. The carbon emissions of the textile industry are equal to that of the aviation industry.
HMK Tekstil, which has been highly sensitive to the environment from past to present, continues to produce textiles with minimal environmental impact, and thanks to the Environmentally Friendly and Innovative Systems we have developed, we are approaching the goal of being a pioneer in this context with the support of our solution partners.
Certifications
GOTS
It is the Organic Cotton certificate that we provide to our customers for our 100% Cotton fabrics.
OCS
It is the Organic Cotton certificate that we provide to our customers for our fabrics containing a minimum of 5% cotton.
Eco-Vero
We have a partnership with the viscose manufacturer Lenzing. It is the sustainable viscose certificate we provide to our customers for our viscose-containing fabrics.
OEKO-TEX 100
It is our certificate declaring that all of our chemicals and dyes used for our global brands and all our consumers are within the framework of European Union standards and that we do not consume harmful chemicals/paints.
GRS
It is the certificate we provide to our customers for our fabrics that we produce with a minimum of 20% recycled polyester yarn in the fabric content.
